Some projects are too big for the smallest container but do not justify a large one. The 15 yard roll-off fills that gap for Malibu, CA homeowners and contractors. It holds about four to five pickup truck loads, giving you breathing room for a medium sized remodel, a multi-room declutter, or a roof replacement on a modest home.
Choosing the middle size is often the most cost effective decision. You avoid the risk of overfilling a 10 yard and scheduling a second haul, and you avoid paying for unused capacity in a 20 yard that would sit half empty.
Dimensions and practical capacity
A 15 yard container is typically around 16 feet long, 8 feet wide, and about 4.5 feet tall, depending on the specific unit. The walls are still low enough for easy loading by hand, and the extra length gives you room to lay long items like trim boards, pipe, and doors flat along the floor.
Projects that fit well include a full kitchen remodel, removing carpet from an entire floor, clearing a basement, or a small to mid sized roofing job. Estate cleanouts with several rooms of furniture often land in this range too, depending on how much is being kept or donated.
Common debris for this job
Getting the most from your 15 yard
Loading strategy makes a real difference. Put flat, heavy items on the bottom, break down furniture to reduce air pockets, and fill empty spaces with smaller debris as you go. Distributing weight evenly across the container floor keeps it stable and safe for transport.
If your project in Malibu, CA involves roofing shingles, plaster, or tile, keep an eye on weight. Those materials are dense and a full 15 yard of shingles can be very heavy. Our team will help you estimate so there are no surprises when the container is picked up.
The 15 yard was exactly right for our kitchen. Cabinets, counters, flooring, all of it went in with room to spare.
Good to know
Should I choose a 15 or 20 yard?
If you are between sizes and the debris is bulky rather than heavy, the 20 yard gives more margin. For dense debris, the 15 yard is often the better fit.
Can a 15 yard handle roofing shingles?
Yes for many modest roofs, but shingles are heavy. Tell us the number of layers and roof size so we can confirm.
How far in advance should I book?
Booking a few days ahead gives the widest scheduling options, though we can often accommodate shorter notice in Malibu, CA.
